My daughter has been driving my husband and I crazy with bedtime. She constantly stalls and keeps saying she needs something and will come up with something that she needs (water, more stuffed animals, a kiss, hugs) and then when we walk out of her room she screams a minute later for us to go back in for something else, this goes on for an hour. We are having to go back in there ten time or more. We are seriously going insane here. She does totally fine with nap time and falls right to sleep and has no issues but bedtime is a nightmare. Any tips or tricks that have worked for anyone?

our girls should be besties because you just described my daughter!! Hang in there!! We’re in this together.
My girl probably came out of her room 10x as well tonight. I ended up making a deal with her by saying if you stay in your bed and don’t come out anymore, I’ll get you a treat tomorrow.. she then rolled over and never came back out of her room. toddlerhood is seriously no joke!!

@PJS110221,
it’s not for the weak. I am taking away her treat tomorrow (which is gummy bears) we had a talk with her today saying that if she keeps asking for us to come into the room at bedtime that she will not get her special treat (gummy bears) anymore. I am going to have a talk with her tomorrow morning because she was awful during bedtime and tell her she won’t get gummy bears anymore now… not looking forward to tomorrow it’s going to be a rough one when I break the news to her… wish my luck! Haha

This was happening to us for a while too. I think it went on for like a month. Finally gave in and now I sit next to her until she falls asleep. So 15-20 minutes of peace rather than 1-2 hours of screaming and crying. Haha

We went through that, so now we do a snack before bed, leave a water bottle in the bedroom and say that now it’s time to rest and not time to play. We allow bringing some extra stuffed animals to bed and say that it’s ok to not fall asleep immediately, but that we all have to rest. Calm but firm.

@Adnama04a,
what about some rough play or swinging before bed? We make shift a hammock with a blanket and we both swing ours.

Honestly a Tonie box has been a lifesaver.

we have a yoto player. What do you do with it to help with bedtime?
