Chicken Parmesan Crescents Recipe (1)

My husband loves Chicken Parmesan, but it is a little too time consuming when I am trying to juggle two kids under the age of three while trying to cook. This recipe is so simple and even my picky three year old devoured it!

Tried these for lunch today and they were fantastic! What an easy way to have chicken parm sandwiches - They were fast and simple (which is the best way to go with little ones) and best of all they tasted great!! I will definitely be making these again!

  8. Renee Sarver says:

I made these tonight. Instead of chicken parm, I did a take on buffalo chicken and used hot sauce instead of marinara. My husband said it was one of the best things I have ever made. Thank you for the easy/flavorful recipe, defiantly will make these again and again!

FAQs

What is the difference between chicken parmigiana and chicken parmesan? ›

Brace yourself for this one—they're the same dish! Chicken Parmesan and chicken Parmigiana are just different names for the same exact recipe. And, with a name like “chicken Parmigiana”, you might assume that this recipe is Italian. While it has roots in Italy (in a way), chicken Parmesan is all-American.

Why is chicken parm made with mozzarella? ›

Chicken Parmigiana's History

Jokes aside, chicken parm has a long, complicated history argued by many historians for different reasons. Believe it or not, there was not readily accessible chicken in Parma, Italy, so the idea started with thin slices of eggplant covered in Neapolitan tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.

What's the difference between chicken parmesan and chicken Milanese? ›

Chicken Parm and Chicken Milanese are nearly identical, differentiated only by the presence of sauce and cheese. As Milan and Parma are 1 hour and 45 minutes apart on the autostrada, it makes sense there'd be some crossover in cooking techniques.

Why does the breading fall off my chicken parm? ›

Always dip your chicken in beaten egg before coating

Dipping your chicken in egg helps the breadcrumbs, or whatever coating you use, adhere evenly to the outside of the cutlet. You should start with a thin layer of flour, which gives the egg a better surface to cling to, then the egg, then the coating.

How do you keep chicken parm from getting soggy? ›

To maximize crispiness, I use panko breadcrumbs and fry the chicken in a little more oil (about an inch) than you might normally use when making parm. As soon as the cutlets are nicely browned and cooked all the way though, drain them on a rack or paper towels. They're crunchy; this will help them stay that way.

What is the fancy name for chicken parmesan? ›

Chicken parmesan or chicken parmigiana (Italian: pollo alla parmigiana) is a dish that consists of breaded chicken breast covered in tomato sauce and mozzarella, Parmesan, or provolone.

Do they eat chicken parmesan in Italy? ›

Despite being a staple of Italian-American cuisine, “chicken parmesan” is nowhere to be found in Italy. Instead, Italians nosh on parmigiana – eggplant layered with tomato sauce and cheese.

Is it OK to use mozzarella cheese instead of Parmesan? ›

Can I use mozzarella instead of parmesan in fettuccine? Yes! This is what this mozzarella alfredo sauce recipe helps you do. While it does change the flavor and bit of the texture, it's still got the same elements of the creamy comfort food you love.

Can you substitute provolone for mozzarella in chicken parm? ›

Any brand of Wisconsin Mozzarella, Parmesan or Provolone can be used in this recipe.

Why is chicken parm so good? ›

Chicken parmigiana encompasses everything we love about Italian food in one bite—the chicken's juicy interior, the crisp coating of the fried breadcrumbs on the meat's exterior, the bright and slightly sweet flavor of the rich tomato sauce, and the silky texture of the mozzarella, slightly browned under a broiler.

What's the difference between francese and piccata? ›

Chicken piccata has capers. So for you caper haters out there, the Francaise version is for you. Chicken Francaise is dredged in flour and egg, whereas chicken piccata is dredged only in flour, so the Francaise has a bit more (delightfully) substantial coating.

What's the difference between chicken parmesan and chicken piccata? ›

Chicken Parmesan (aka Chicken Parmigiana) is a dish consisting of breaded chicken cutlets topped with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, and grated Parmigiano-Reggiano. Chicken piccata is another Italian-American favorite made with thinly pounded, unbreaded chicken cutlets and served with a buttery lemon-caper sauce.

How to keep chicken breading from falling off? ›

Place the breaded chicken on a cooling rack (or a platter) and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. This cooling time will help the layers of breading ingredients solidify and adhere better after the chicken cooks. Once you start cooking the chicken, be patient and don't flip it over too early.

How do restaurants get breading to stick to chicken? ›

  1. First, with the chicken dry, dredge it in seasoned flour. This will give the liquid in the next step a better surface to stick to.
  2. Next, dredge the chicken through a mix of milk (or buttermilk) and egg. This can also be seasoned if you like.
  3. Finally, dredge the chicken in the final breading mix.

What can I use to make breading stick? ›

When it comes to breading meat, most breading procedures are basically the same. But taking the extra time to soak your meat in buttermilk and let the flour set will ensure that your breading is fully adhered for the perfect breaded pork chops or breaded chicken.

Why isn't my breading sticking to my chicken? ›

Meat is not properly dry

If the meat is wet, it will make the flour soggy. In that case, breading will not stick properly and may fall off when deep frying. Therefore, you must take some paper towels and pat dry the meat on all sides.
