Algonkian Park eh? ;) nice pics. For living in Sterling for ~17 years Im suprised I never saw your car around.

Aye, yes it is. It makes a nicer backdrop than my driveway. ;) But since I bought my car less than two years ago, it's probably not too suprising you haven't seen it...

Hi everyone, this is my wife's new car...a 97M with about 48,500 on it. We've had it for a month so far and love it. It replaced her 95 with 178,000 on it.

I'd like to replace the 97M wheels with a set of 94-97 14" alloys.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the car (and the green/tan combo matches my 65 Mustang convertible too!!)

What lens were you using? For the first timing using the camera, they came out pretty good. Some of the pics lack some sharpness and contrast (most likely the lens). Here's a quick photoshop to add a bit more sharpness and color:

Bryan,

Panache kit bought used from another miata.net member. Stainless lines, Cobalt GT-S pads in the Wilwood calipers, Goodwin Racing caliper pins, Axxis Ultimates rear pads in the RX-7 calipers, Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve, ATE Super Blue fluid. The pads don't dust too bad on the street or track. The front calipers are much lighter than factory calipers, and the rotors are at least a pound lighter than front 1.8l rotors, slightly heavier than the rear 1.8l rotors.

Gotta have decent tires with these brakes. The car stops like two aircraft carrier anchors are being tossed from the car. Even regular street driving only requires a light touch to stop the car. Simply incredible brakes.

At an autocross last weekend I only had to touch the brakes at one turn to slow, and I had to be careful or the car would slow too quickly. At the end of the course, there was a small straight, so you'd floor it and run like that for a few hundred feet to the shut down area. Just to see, I hammered the brakes in the slow down area. Someone approached later in the day and said the car looked like it was going from GO to STOP instantaneously. All I felt were my eyes sucking out of my head.

Jade:
Glad you liked my car. My picture had a white sheet of paper in the windshield from when the guy was selling it so I copied and pasted the tree reflections to get rid of it and I also sprayed out the water on the concrete because it made it look like the car was loosing oil. I bought it 6 months ago and it's an Extreme RE1 body kit which is now being sold on ebay though back when the previous owner put it on, it was just newly imported into the US. Still, I'm in San Diego and have never seen one on the road besides mine....which is why I liked it and it's more of a classic look than many other kits.

Take care!

Hey Gotrice?,

I was using a Nikon 24-120 that has excellent glass. I have used the lens for a few years with my film cameras with great results. I lost a lot in the jump down in resolution when I uploaded to photobucket site.

The orignal images were all very clear on my computer before the photobucket upload. They were all shot in RAW mode. Seems like I lost contrast in that upload too.

Oh well, I'm just getting into digital after being a slide guy forever (Hundreds of little yellow boxes), I'll learn the tricks as I go.

Thanks for the effort.

Try this site - http://hostmypiconline.com/ - I use it to upload my shots (big or small).

I've gone digital for ~ 7 years and I haven't gone back to 35mm since then. There's so much more versatility when using a good graphics program (ie Photoshop CS) to manipulate the pictures, even the ones that don't come out that great =)

Its funny, everytime she'd hear by tires squeal a little longer than normal, she'd close her eyes and turn around. I never did spin, but that's a mother's nerves I guess. I told her not to sit by the chicane, but oh well.

Hey, thanks again. I'll have to try that site next time I upload something.
I admit to having been slow to get into digital, but dove in headfirst and bought a Nikon D100 after having used a friend's last Summer.

Next time I take shots of the car, I'll also haul out the tripod and filters and do it right. This time it was just the camera, me and the car, all hand held, without a whole lot of thought going into it. I didn't even wait for the sweet light, but shot too early.

Oh well, next time.

Thanks again for the advice, I learn something new everyday. Sometimes it's that I don't know as much as I hoped I did, but that's okay.

On the bright side, if I had gotten all that contrast and sharpness up here, everyone would have been able to see the flaws in the car.

It has a small ding in the passenger door from a stick that got kicked up, and one in the trunk lid caused by the same stick as it flipped up over the car. Also, somebody dropped something on the hood and dinged it too (Contractors were working on the sewers near my house and were carrying stuff back and forth across the driveway and a ding magically appeared.). The PO put a few light scrapes/scratches on the passenger side around the wheel wells/fenders. And the barn doors don't match, they came off a car that the paint had faded a bit more than mine (My car came with a flush headlight conversion).

So someday, in maybe a year or two, I'll get the whole car repainted.

All it takes is money.

got rice?

All those flaws can be fixed with Adobe Photoshop =)

Just picked this one up Saturday. Drove all the way to Durham, NC to get. I am swapping the damaged blue 90' for this. 40k miles less and no body damage for $1500 more. I am buying it from my boss and giving him the "Blue Beast" and $1500. What do you think. I get to keep the wheels and tires because they are new, I kept all of my mats, and the factory cupholders. Pics taken Sunday in N. Georgia. Had a blast.

30th May 2006, 22:03

here is the second R package i purchased in 2001, this time it was a '95 R package with only 27k miles on her. i fitted it with an FMII -- boy was that a fun car.....unfortunately i later sold her to a member of this board (i don't think he's on here anymore), and he later sold it to some fellow in the southern part of the country -- i swear someone on this board has this car now....i know it!

anyway here are some pics that were taken by the guy whom i sold it to (if you're out there - i hope you don't mind me posting these pics, gil.) enjoy!

and here are pics of the third and fourth miatas that have set foot in my garage....it's a 1990 that I purchased from a woman moving out of state for only $2500 and only 70k miles! I've owned this one for about two years now.

and the next pic is the latest miata. a '94 B package with only 27k miles. the previous owner put a bunch of upgrades that i could really care less about, but for the price I had a bargain. i pretty much returned her to stock form, but here's a pic of it in front of the seller's home. (the wheels on it will be put in the classified section shortly--just in case anyone was interested).

Oh it's got turns... nice'uns, seeing as how I designed it... ;)

But in the interest of good faith since the Porsche was being driven by the very nice lady who was putting on the event, and she had already been *really* po'd at me for consistantly dropping a wheel off at 'bout every turn and tossing gravel and sand up on the track...

Now that really ticks off all the folks with they $100K+ Porsches, BMWs, 350Z's, etc... seems they don't like cracked windshields, headlights, and dinged up paint jobs... guess I really don't blame 'um, but ol habits are hard to break, and I came up learning that the track extended from guard rail to guard rail... ;)

So... I decided to let her 'play' through... ;)

Here is my 1990. Before anyone goes all crazy about the hood emblem, let me say that the front-end bodywork was replaced after a fender bender some years ago.... so, yes, it did not have an emblem originally.

My wife and I are the original owners of the car, having purchased it at J.C. Lewis Mazda in Savannah GA on 1 March, 1990. The odometer reads 110,000 miles. She has had a hard life, having spent a couple winters up north with some relatives (who were a little rough on her). Some paint and a new top are probably the most urgent things. We do love the little MX, and it has outlived about nine cars (and maybe twenty motorcycles) that have rotated through our garage. But, it's even more interesting (to me) to think that it is the veteran of about six military moves, six dogs, Gulf War #1, freezing in the Midwest, sizzling in the Southwest, and our entire marriage.

I hope you didn't think it was a contest, or that I was bragging! :D I'm sure there are many original owners in the forum. The only thing that's impressive about me owning a car for sixteen years is that I usually change cars and motorcycles about as frequently as most normal people change socks.

It says alot for the fun factor of the Miata. I've recently been looking at buying a new sports car. Even with price being not a big factor, I am drawn back to the MX-5. I'd honestly prefer a 2+2, but I haven't seen any that are very exciting to me. I suspect that a '06 or '07 Miata is in my future! :)

North Carolina is great. We've only been here for 2 months so haven't had much time to find good roads here....we DO know where there are some good roads to the west of us though :-).....it will be good to use my car year round now vs putting her to sleep for 6 months in NY!

They are 15x6.5"...which is not big enough but the price was right. I think they look like the "right" size on an NA as well, just my opinion though.

what size up from that did you really want

I'm wondering what the best rim size for a NA

BilgeRat

92 with 125,000 miles on the clock; it's a daily driver with a few mods. I've added a tonneau cover, a wind blocker, a new cloth top, etc. Car runs like a champ with minimal attention. I guess you could call the shot "Big Power and Little Power".

I like the 15" diameter but the wheels are only 6.5" wide. Look at my sig and you will see why my current Toyo T1-S 195 width tires are not up to the task. I am slightly traction limited!

For a stock or close to stock Miata though, I'd think that my wheel and tire combo would be perfect. Light weight, sticky, and classic looks IMHO.

Nothing exotic, just your standard 15x6.5" Konig Heliums. They are cheap, strong, light, and I agree they look great on the Miata.

Check out the wheel and tire section of this forum for a TON of threads and pictures of these wheels on many Miatas. Rota Circuit 8's are also very similar.

Here is a few shots of my car. It just got out of the paint booth this week and we are still planning on doing a few things to it. The first is to respray the black line on the bottom of the car. I think it looks less portly and much sleeker that way.

The car has the R spoiler, shaved badges, Vitaloni Californian mirrors, H&Rs, Bilsteins... The color is a 2007 Subaru color and I decided to do a matte on the hood and the windshield frame. I feel it came out really well.

I did not do the whole hood and headlight buckets because I did not want them to look like primered replacements that have not been shot yet. If I were to do it again I would have run the black all the way down to the body line below the marker lights. I may still do it.

Here are the pics:

Actually, I just had it painted. It was a faded red one that I'd had stored for a few years. I wanted a contrasting color, but no Miata colors held my interest. So after debating between ORANGE and this 2001 BMW M3 greenish/goldish/yellow, I picked the second one. You know, I don't remember the name (something metallic yellow) is close. It's been a couple of years since I've seen one of these M3's running around in this shade - but I always liked it. And I think it contrasts rather well with the white.
